Self-Love: The Roots of a Person

In the book Salvation by Bell Hooks, she talks about how the children she spoke to felt

that they did not have a concept of love from others or themselves. This issue inspired me to

create a program that will give these kids and young people who do not have a person or a thing

to look to when it comes to positive messaging. This program will provide different activities

that will inform people about the forms of self-love and its benefits. People will also be able to

express themselves and encourage others to be themselves through writing because words are

powerful. The main goal of this program is to plant the seeds of self-love in these children and

young people so that it can eventually spread into their communities, so that the community can

be as strong and unified as ever.

By having my great-grandmother still in my life, it hit me to do a project about generational love being passed down throughout generations.   Victoria Jones ENGL2017 Dr. Harris May 1, 2025 Major Project The aspect of Love and Liberation that I will discuss is the practice of self-love and self-acceptance. bell hooks describe love ethics as a form of freedom and expression that all individuals should utilize in order to prosper, but it is always an option. To me, in order to achieve love ethics, people must first love themselves, find peace within, and accept life for what it is. Internal love is more than just self love because all love reveals itself externally. What happens on the inside is what’s displayed on the outside.
